Our team spent ten weeks conducting user research and adopting a value sensitive design approach to our solution. Understanding that our product will impact numerous diverse communities on Vashon Island, we chose a feasible solution with the highest impact.
Food Access Partnership is now able to have a comprehensive understanding of the flow of VIGA Farm Bucks. They will use this data to make better informed decisions related to the distribution of Bucks to partner organizations. Additionally, this data can be used in support of grant applications to recieve additional funding for their program.
Caseworkers of the partnering non-profit organizations are now able to know how many of the bucks they hand out are redeemed back at the farmer's market or a farm stand. This allows caseworkers to be informed and encourage their clients to redeem the bucks if there is a low redemption percentage.
The partnering non-profit organizations of Food Access Partnerhsip are the backbone of the system. Caseworkers at non-profits hand out the VIGA Farm Bucks to their clients and encourage redemption. Non-profits are now able to keep track of how many bucks are redeemed compared to how many they hand out. In near real time, they are able to stay up to date and informed.
